Adventure with Wildjoy: Hike to See Hieroglyphic Trail
The Hieroglyphics Trail in the Superstition Mountains has unique offerings. The canyon at the end of the trail contains petroglyphs, which are images that have been carved into rock. These petroglyphs are believed to have been created by the Hohokam who resided in the area around 1,500 years ago. This trail is 2.9 miles out and back and rated as easy.

The Wind Cave Trail is a central focal point inside the 3,600-acre park offering sweeping views of the city and the Downtown Phoenix skyline. Hikers heading to the top will appreciate the switchbacks that help reduce the labor-intensive climb. Giant boulders throughout the 1.5 mile climb serve as resting stops and platforms for taking it all in. Desert Trails Park is 35 acres and includes a series of hiking and biking trails, a pump track, a kids’ skills track and two ramadas. The trails consist of a ¾-mile perimeter trail for hiking and non-motorized bike use. These trails go up to the top of the hill for hikers and non-motorized bikers.
